Easy ways I elevated my life
it's the joy in the simple things
She walks down the street with an aura of chicness, a scent of success and confidence follows her. She has luscious hair, glowing skin, a unique perspective. We all know her, but how do we become her, in our own way?
I rounded up some easy & simple ways I have stepped into my version of a most elevated life. I used to think to achieve this level of chicness (from the outside looking in 😉) you had spend exorbitant amounts of money, but no, it actually comes from the little things, the simple things, the oftentimes cheap things, that you bring into your day, into your routine, or the time when you’re alone -
Euro pillows & having a bed time
I have started treating my bed like a luxurious villa. The way that you leave your bed in the morning, sets the standard for your day, and the way you come back to it at night, impacts your mood before you sleep. Buy euro pillows, extra throws, the $20 dollar extra thread count sheets, and start letting your bed be a place you are excited to come home to - if you sleep & wake up like a princess, you’ll start to feel like one.
Also set yourself a bedtime and stick to it. The weeknights should be about routines & habits. Lights of at 10:00 (at least for me).
Low impact workouts
I used to itch for Soul Cycle. The music, the sweat, I did spin class every single day for a year. Not that that’s bad - I think that kind of detox was what I needed during college, flushing out the toxins. But now, as my movement needs have changed, pilates & yoga have become the workout that I gravitate towards, get excited about.
Our body’s movement and energy needs fluctuate as all areas of our life ebb and flow. Finding the right workout isn’t easy, but when you do, you will feel energized and refreshed. Being excited to move your body is the true mark of an elevated life.
The 5 minute bullet journal & a morning coffee
My new years resolution was to wake up 20 minutes earlier, to not be rushed out the door on the way to the office. I also bought a bullet journal, specifically with the intention of using it in those extra minutes. I drink my coffee, write a bit, and look out the window - a few slow minutes before a very busy day.
Allowing myself this extra time in the morning has transformed my day. Being introspective for even 5 minutes, allowing myself to stay off my phone for the first waking moments - I never realized it’s importance. And I don’t have to sacrifice too much of the sleep I (desperately) need.
Vintage watches & taking your jewelry off
An easy and cheap way to elevate your life, is by finding a cute, vintage watch. I went to a shop in Chinatown, and have sent a ton of people there after me, to sift through piles and piles of vintage jewelry. I found the perfect two tone women’s watch, and get compliments on it all of the time. Wearing a watch automatically makes you feel more ~professional & chic, pulls any bracelet stack together, and will be the missing piece to your collection - DM me for the name of the Chinatown spot!
Maybe this goes without saying, but I used to sleep with my jewelry on - I KNOW - terrible. The day I decided to take it all off before I slept, my life changed forever. If you do this (even if you don’t want to admit it) just trust me.
Pajama sets & a robe
Making the simple things special, is the key to living an elevated life. Get a robe, only sleep in pajama sets, and you are one step closer to royalty.
Sam gifted me a robe last year for Valentine’s day (a great idea if you’re looking for a gift) embroidered with my initials. The time I spend relaxing in my robe after the shower, before putting on my Eberjey pajama set, are my favorite minutes of the day. TRY IT !
A skincare routine that’s more than 1 step & hand lotion
A lot of these things are routine oriented…clearly you can see where my head’s at. Even if the routine is using two different moisturizers, or a cleanser and a makeup removing balm, create a routine for yourself that makes you feel luxe before bed, and stick to it. Take care of your skin.
On that same note, use hand lotion. Just trust.
Cooking at home Monday - Thursday
Although this may not seem like a way to elevate your life, and maybe at surface level, eating at the coolest restaurants in NYC every night would be elevated, there is nothing chicer than a woman who is passionate about the food she makes. Saving money, eating healthy - all very elevated in my book. Since I have started cooking during the week, I feel better about myself, and PROUD of myself not to mention. I was no chef, but through the last 6 months have taught myself soooo many different recipes - separate post coming on this soon.
Dishes for trinkets
This one is SO easy, but really makes all of the difference. Buying trays and dishes (mine is from Target, it doesn’t need to be expensive) elevates your space and makes your surfaces look intentionally organized. Perfumes, jewelry, trinkets, hair ties, anything can go in a dish, and everything SHOULD go in a dish. They don’t have to be luxe dishes themselves, they just have to ~look the part.
Cashmere
Especially during the winter, cashmere is effortlessly chic and put together. Obviously this comes with a bit of a higher price point, but it’s easy to buy simple, staple pieces, that elevate your “what the hell do I put on today” outfits. Cashmere socks, gloves, scarves, all also do the trick in pulling together a winter outfit, and elevating what could be a basic piece of clothing. Sometimes - quality is better than quantity.
thanks all xx
