PHEW I am back stateside. Been taking the week to relax & unwind after the unbelievably amazing trip and exhausting travel. So excited to share some memories from such a beautiful 5 days in Madrid - BUT - I hit 100 subscribers!!!! Can’t express my gratitude and am so looking forward to growing a community and sharing my life, thoughts, and opinions with you all. THANK YOU!!
Onto Madrid. We took a redeye on Wednesday the 12th, so our day started bright and early the next morning.
Thursday February 13th
Day 1!!! Our flight landed (annoyingly) early so we went to relax in what was described as the “breakfast room”. But NO - this was seriously one of the most beautiful restaurants I have ever been in. It is called Dani Brasserie, and is a must go if you are in Madrid. This also started my green juice obsession - I had 10 glasses throughout the whole trip.
Later that day, we saw the Royal Palace & Plaza Mayor. I wore this matching denim set from Levi’s (it’s sold out but I love this one), which was easy and comfortable for sight seeing. This man playing the accordion was amazing, and it really set the vibe for the walk. I also obviously indulged in a fab Aperol spritz. Nothing felt better than sitting outside drinking with family, especially when it was 65 degrees!!
And shoutout to this incredible opera singer we saw outside of our hotel on the walk home. BEAUTIFUL - this city has music everywhere.
Although we were VERY tired by this point, we went out for dinner at one of the trendiest spots right now, Circolo Populare. The bar wall was incredible, and the drink portions were…generous. I wore these Handover Cheetah pants, and this J.Crew fitted tuxedo top, with my Jeffrey Campbell buckle heels. Great food, even better company, but I was so excited to go to bed.
Friday February 14th <3
Happy Valentine’s Day!!!! We started the day shopping around Gran Via, the main shopping street with the chain stores like Zara, Mango, etc. Spanish Zara still reigns supreme. We then walked through Malasaña, streets lined with vintage stores. I got these sunglasses and a few other pieces. You can just say, some shopping damage was done. Note coming soon on all of the things I bought!
We had a quick glass of Cava Sangria (my preference to normal sangria) & stopped by Tiki Taco for 1 euro tacos. We had this as a 3:00 PM snack, so we shared 5, but I genuinely think you could eat 20 for a full meal. They were so so so good - a must try place!
For dinner, we headed to Chambao, which has locations in a bunch of cities in Mexico, Spain, and more. I wore this old satin Zara top that is one of my favorites, and the Reformation Gale Pants in Mushroom. These were sitting in my cart forever, and I finally made the purchase right before this trip - so so worth it & flattering. Food was great and the Valentine’s Day touches were very cute, we got given roses as we walked in! Live violinists played the whole dinner and the DJ started later in the night.
Saturday February 15th
We started Saturday at El Retiro Park, you could say Madrid’s Central Park. I wore this olddddd Nasty Gal Jacket, my classic Levi’s, and my new Adidas Handball Spezial sneakers that I got on the trip. What’s better than a day in the park!
One of my favorite spots in Madrid, we went to el Mercado de San Miguel. You could seriously spend 10 hours in this place and eat every meal. We tried a bunch of different small tapas plates, fried calamari cones, and so many more delicious mini treats. The dumpling platter was truly my favorite.
We ended the night at SLVJ, a favorite of mine from Barcelona. Live performances of dancers go on throughout the full meal, and the food is really really good. The salmon crispy rice & the veggie fried rice is INCREDIBLE. Happy I got to go back! We then went to world famous Salmon Guru, a drink spot truly like no other. The menu was 40 pages, with intense illustrations and descriptions. It was Madrid’s version of Paradiso - if you know you know!
Sunday February 16th
Our last day, we walked through the La Latina neighborhood, and through the El Rastro street flea market. I wore the same Reformation Gale pants, my favorite J.Crew oversized brushed cashmere sweater, and this CUTEE bib collar shirt from Mulaya, in Madrid (similar). Although a taddd overwhelming and crowded, I purchased really cute porcelain bowls for my grandma, that she loved. We went to brunch at Dani Brasserie, on the roof of our hotel, for a super luxe brunch with a view - a breathtaking one!
To end the trip, we went to a Flamenco show & dinner at the Michelin star Corral de la Morería. I wore this J.Crew cardigan and this beautiful silk maxi skirt from Unsubscribed. The meal was amazing, the highlight was definitely the caramel french toast and banana ice cream. The performances were incredible, and it ended the trip on the highest note - I wish I could add videos here!!!
What a beautiful time we had, I am so lucky!!!!!! Speak soon xx
I love Madrid. It’s a definition of the word CITY.
Thank you for sharing your travels so I can live vicariously through the aesthetic!
